Glen Aine Foods began in 1985 as a local butcher shop in Hospital, Co. Limerick, with a clear focus on quality, consistency and taste. This commitment quickly established the business as a trusted local supplier of premium cooked meats.
As demand increased, the business expanded into a purpose-built facility in 2000, marking its evolution into a dedicated cooked meat manufacturer in Ireland. Continued growth led to the development of a new, modern production facility in 2011, designed to support increased capacity and the growing needs of both retail and foodservice meat customers in Ireland. This facility has achieved BRC ‘AA’ accreditation, reinforcing Glen Aine’s position as a high-quality Irish food producer.
Joining the Lisavaird Family
In 2009, Glen Aine became part of Lisavaird Co-operative Food Group, strengthening the business through shared expertise and long-term investment, while maintaining its commitment to quality and customer service.
Today, Glen Aine produces approximately 40 tonnes of cooked ham and beef each week, supplying a wide range of customers as a reliable ham and cooked meats supplier in Ireland. Our product range has evolved to include bulk, ready-sliced ham and beef, and diced formats, supporting the growing demand for convenience across retail and foodservice sectors.
Rooted in Limerick’s Food Heritage

In the early 1900s, Limerick was known as “Pigtown”, with several bacon factories operating in the city. This industry played a central role in shaping the region’s economy and food culture, establishing Limerick as a recognised centre for premium ham production.
That reputation for quality still exists today and continues to influence Glen Aine as a modern Irish ham supplier. While the market has evolved from traditional butcher counters to pre-packed and sliced cooked meats for retail and foodservice, the focus on quality has remained constant.
